AfraMedico Privacy Policy Statement
At Afra Virtual Medical Tourism Inc., operating under the trade name AfraMedico, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the confidentiality and security of your personal information. This privacy policy statement explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, destroy, and protect information when you use our services. Please note that this policy provides an overview of how the Aframedico Platform functions and may not apply to every specific authorized provider or consultation.
Healthcare Services:
Authorized Providers collect information about you or any registered dependent (as defined below) that you provide during a consultation, either verbally or through texts. This includes information you enter or upload to the AfraMedico Platform. Authorized Providers have access to various information through the AfraMedico Platform, such as the details you provide in your consultation request, information in your profiles and medical records, information created during previous interactions with other Authorized Providers, and the personal information you provided during registration, including your name, email address, phone number, gender, date of birth, and province/territory. They may also have access to your emergency contact’s name and contact information. Authorized Providers use this information to provide you with healthcare services while complying with applicable privacy legislation and medical record-keeping obligations. They may generate additional information within the AfraMedico Platform, such as prescriptions, sick notes, and consultation notes. They may also export or print copies of your information. In certain situations, they may contact your emergency contact if they believe you are facing a healthcare emergency. It is your responsibility to inform your emergency contact that you are providing their information to AfraMedico and Authorized Providers and to obtain any necessary consent for the use of that information in connection with the AfraMedico Platform.
Other Services:
AfraMedico provides additional services to support healthcare services, such as receiving, reviewing, and uploading laboratory test results to the AfraMedico Platform, faxing prescriptions to pharmacies, and obtaining referrals for consultations with specialists. These services require the use of information.
AfraMedico’s Collection and Use of Information:
AfraMedico collects and uses information to develop, evaluate, improve, and provide the AfraMedico Platform and related services. We collect and use information that is necessary, and we may record the audio or video portions of consultations. Here is how we collect and use information:
- Collection: We collect and use your information to register you, create your user account, authenticate your login, and personalize your experience on the AfraMedico Platform. We may also collect your provincial health number when required for access to services insured by provincial health plans, and we use this number to bill provincial health plans for insured services.
- Registered Dependents: If you are authorized to make healthcare decisions for someone else, such as a child or parent, you may create a profile for them as a registered dependent. To create a profile, we collect their first and last name, gender, and date of birth. This information helps us confirm your eligibility to obtain healthcare services for registered dependents and their eligibility to receive healthcare services.
- Storage: If you choose to enter, upload, and store information in the AfraMedico Platform, such as medical records or emergency contact details, we will use the information to maintain it securely.
- Services, Operation, and Development: We use the information you upload, or that is created during a consultation to make it available to you when you access your account. We also use the information to provide services you request, such as securely faxing prescriptions or notifying you about the status of a consultation or prescription order. Additionally, we use the information to operate, deliver, and support the AfraMedico Platform, ensure loss prevention and anti-fraud measures, comply with regulatory and legal requirements, and improve the AfraMedico Platform and its content.
- Determining Eligibility and Authentication: When you request healthcare services, we may pass along the information you provide, including the reason for your request, your age, gender, and relevant names, to an authorized provider for eligibility determination. If the provider confirms your eligibility, we share the necessary information with them unless you have chosen to restrict access. We may also collect and use location data through GPS technology and IP address to ensure you are connected to licensed providers within the appropriate jurisdiction.
- Medical Emergencies: In the event that your submitted information indicates a healthcare emergency, we reserve the right to use the contact information you provided to inform you that an authorized provider has declined your consultation request due to the nature of your symptoms.
- Essential and Non-Essential Communications: We may send you service announcements, including updates to policies, terms of use, and software, which are essential communications. Additionally, if you opt-in, we may send you newsletters or information about upcoming events that may be of interest to you, which are non-essential communications.
